The music sits between lo-fi hip hop, dusty sample culture, electronica, and traditional Japanese color, with a loner Ronin mood running underneath. It is a fully solo project: written, composed, performed, mixed, and mastered by Brenden Gillis, built from chopped samples, vocal fragments, programmed drums, and carefully stacked atmosphere. Fortune Cookies opens in ambient haze before the beat and piano open up. Yojimbo hits harder, fusing samurai film-score energy with modern hip hop bounce.
